A post for those of you who feel nervous about dressing up for school-

I used to be really self conscious about what I wore to school. I never wanted to stand out from the crowd, and I feared that if I wore something too flashy or fancy people would think I was weird. In reality, no one thinks that way. I've started wearing what I want to wear, and I'm happier and more confident than ever when I walk down the hallways. Sure, I stand out, but I only ever get positive attention from it (and I've never gotten any negative attention to my face, so I'm going to chalk that down as never having gotten any negative attention at all).

If you are worried about transitioning to a more fancy type of style, start out slow and build your way up. But I guarantee, no one will judge you for expressing yourself. And if they do, they are not people you need to associate yourself with, because they are probably haters.

Happy styling!!

Post Winter Pre Spring

J Crew Black Tights, Forever 21 Sweater, Elephant Skirt (from India), Famous Footwear Flats

This is the outfit I wore to school today. It's about 50 degrees outside-- my favorite weather because it is the perfect temperature to wear a skirt with tights. I got these tights on sale from J Crew during Christmas (for 3 dollars!) and I also got a sparkly pair. However, the pair I wore today disappointed me because I found a run in them after only wearing them once before. -_- You get what you pay for, right?

The skirt has a much more interesting story. On a trip to India a couple of years ago, my mom bought this skirt for my sister. She never wore it, but I recently found it in the depths of her closet and fell in love with it. It's a wrap around skirt, but the buttons are too big for my waist so I usually wrap it around tightly and fold over the top of the skirt 1/2 an inch. They are hard to come by, but I recommend wrap around skirts for any and all petite girls. They are the adult version of the adjust your own waistline pants they used to sell at The Children's Place! (please tell me I'm not the only one who remembers those)

The sweater is from Forever 21 from forever ago (heh). Forever 21 is one of my favorite stores for cheap preppy clothing. Although this is an old sweater of my sister's (closet foraging— another lucrative method of finding cheap clothing) and was worn all throughout her high school career and the majority of mine, it show no signs of age.
Forever 21 Coat
This coat is one of my favorite purchases of 2013, because I bought it after it had been marked off several times and bought it for a final price of four dollars. I achieved this extreme coupon-er type success by finally following a piece of advice that my mother has been repeating for my entire life: buy coats at the end of the season. I bought this particular coat in February, and there were several other coats marked down as well. Unfortunately, none of them fit me very well. The sleeves on this coat are slightly long (as you can tell by the bunching), it doesn't have pockets (quite disconcerting) and its made from a thick cotton material, but overall, it serves the purpose of a winter/spring transitional coat.

Also, sorry for the bad photo quality, my camera is dead so I took these pictures on my phone!

I'd love to know what you think of this outfit! Hopefully it sparks your interest enough to visit again and see my other outfits!

Hi everyone!

I'm a teenager in New Jersey, and I'm obsessed with fashion. After college, I aspire to go into the media aspect of fashion, either public relations or the magazine industry. But right now, I'm just trying to get through high school without drowning in the workload.

I find a lot of blogs on the internet that have preppy fashion ideas for women, like Extra Petite and Style Up (two of my favorite fashion blogs), but usually their outfits are too formal for school and can only be worn during special occasions, such as school trips. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create a fashion blog for teenage girls who appreciate a preppy outfit but want to avoid looking like they are going to office every day.

This is my first blog, so I am open to opinions and ideas! Comment with any questions/suggestions you might have!
